the 6 month weekend

Again, I say, I cannot believe that 6 months ago the joy that IS Jason drifted into my life. He is such a blessing, and every day he amazes me by his personality and temperment and just his lovey-ness!

This was a busy weekend, which is why it took so long for me to post. First of all, Miss Mandi came over and did his 6 month calendar shoot with us. Again, her pictures are a million times better than Penney's. The pictures in the beginning of this blog are just a few of the priceless photos that she took.

Then it was off to see the doctor for his 6 month check-up. The little guy weighs 18 lbs 3 oz and is about 27" long. Not so little anymore. He got his 2 shots and was given a clean bill of health! Hopefully we won't have to go back until he is 9 months old. He did really well with his shots, and was not cranky at all. Mommy kept him Tylenol'd up all day which helped.

Then Miss Mandi and Mr. Keiser came over and I cooked dinner for everyone. Yes. I cooked dinner. Once you have all recovered from your fainting spells I will continue. Anyway, it turned out ok, a few glitches here and there, but they said they liked it, and they talked to me today, so I guess it turned out ok! We played an amended version of Scene It-Movie edition and somehow Mandi and Keiser won as a team, even though it's not a team game. Hmm..

Saturday was recovery day for us all. The biggest recovery was the kitchen. I went ballistic in the kitchen and cleared off the counters and mopped the floor and re-organized. I watched a few episodes of Clean Sweep on TLC which was great inspiration. Jason pretty much slept all day, he was asleep more than he was awake. I think the shots really wore him out. It was good for all of us though as I got to clean the kitchen and Scott finished up his sermon.

And here it is Sunday again. A lot of sitting on the couch and playing with Jason. We were all beat. Although Scott had to work a bit it was nice to relax as a family.

Well, enjoy the pictures. Have a great week... hopefully we'll finally get to meet Greta formally known as Peanette sometime this week!

1/2 year

I'm such a bad mommy and did not post to announce my little guy's 1/2 birthday!! He was 6 months old yesterday, and I'm totally in awe of the joy and happiness that he has brought us. All day I kept announcing where I was at that particiular moment 6 months ago. Most of the time I was STILL in labor. But this time 6 months ago, they had just started to come in and wake me up so I could finally for real, meet my new little joy. My life was never the same from that point on. And I'm eternally thankful.
So, to celebrate his 6 month birthday, today we are headed to the pediatrician's for the 6 month check up. I don't believe that Jason will be much into celebrating , however. He will be getting another round of immunizations. Have I sung the praises of Baby Tylenol yet? Because, really, it's GOOD stuff. Before we go, though, Miss Mandi will be coming over to take AWESOME 6 month pictures (again, www.photobymandi.com not JC Penney's) and then tonight Miss Mandi and Mr Keiser will be coming over for dinner and some game night. WOo-HOo!

The attached pictures are JC Penney's shots... Jason can make anything look good!! Have a great weekend!

Catching up

I just realized it's been since Friday that I posted anything. We had a great weekend, spending some quality time together when we could. I also got to go out to dinner with a friend on Saturday night ... alone... without a husband or child.... it was blissful!! I ate too much and super un-healthily, but worth every calorie. It was nice catching up as well. Sunday was of course super busy with church and Jason's schedule always gets a little thrown off, but he doesn't seem to mind. And, he loves to flirt with all the ladies!! I actually went grocery shopping, again by myself, and we had a great dinner that Scott prepared. Then a little vegging in front of the TV and here it is Monday already! We heard from little Peanette aka Greta and her parents and she is ready to meet us and more importantly her future boyfriend! Or at least playdate pal. I can't wait!

Have a great Tuesday!

Suprises

It's been a day or two since I've posted. I was just too beat to write one yesterday. Anyway it's been a slightly uneventful couple of days. However, today we finally introduced sweet potatos to my little sweet potato. He seemed to like it, although he has not been in very good space all day today. O, and making the sweet potatos.. much better this time. I had help from my mom, who kind of monitored me the whole time! LOL! But, there were no sweet potato catastrophes, so all is good.

Tonight the 3 of us drove up to the Edison area and met our friends Darryl and Janis for dinner at a 1/2 price sushi restaurant. Seriously. It said 1/2 price Sushi on the sign!! Anyway, it was a suprise to Janis and when they walked in the door, we were sitting there, and after she did a double take, she started crying. Hopefully they were tears of joy. I'm pretty sure they were. They scooped up Jason, and I really didn't hold him at all the rest of the night (which was fine by me!! I got to eat in peace!! and Janis got her baby-fix). It was a wonderful evening, and suprisingly, the 1/2 price sushi was quite good.

So, now the kid is in bed, the hubby is watching Monk downstairs, and I'm just taking a few minutes to chill out by myself upstairs in the office with the ligths off!!

Have a great weekend!

Not much to report...

Since I had to work ALL day at AFTH. Although, I have to say that as busy as I was in the office, my co-workers had a HECK of a day outside the office cooridinating a placement.

Jason had fun hanging out with Daddy and Miss Linda and was super happy to see Mommy when she finally rolled through the door at 6pm!! (At least I like to think he was!) I'm off to work ALL day again tomorrow :( and then just a short day on Friday and looking forward to a nice weekend with friends.

Have a great day on Thursday!

day off?

Well, it's the day off work at AFTH, however my full-time mommy job is a million times busier! Although I feel like I got nothing done, my little guy had a good day. We had to break out the car seat snuggler b/c it seems that winter finally showed up. I don't think he liked it so much though. He always hated to be swaddled, and this thing kind of restricts his feet. But he needs to stay warm, so he'll just have to deal with it!! :)

LIfe is good... I'm exhausted.. and American Idol started again tonight. It doesn't get much better....

picture day

I don't know why I insist on going to JC Penney's to get his pictures taken. We were given a very generous gift of a 2 year- no sitting fees- when Jason was born, and I thought that was very cool. However, today we went for his 6 month pictures, and they're ok, but they're really not that great. We have a fabulous friend, Mandi, (shamless advertising here... www.photobymandi.com) who takes Jason's pictures ALL the time and she takes, by far a millions times better pictures than at Penney's. I guess it's a rite of passage thing.. you have a baby, you take them to the studio and get pictures taken. Whatever. I say all this, and probably at 9 months I'll repeat this process all over again! Not to mention, our little man who gives up smiles like it's no one's business, decided today that he was going to be stingy with the smiles! The photographer was able to get a couple good shots, but nothing spectacular.

I'm off work tomorrow, and already have a super long list of things that need or should get done... but mostly I want just get on the floor and play with my son, because we only get one chance at this, and I want to take full advantage of it!

Good night all...

What a weekend!

Seriously... this has been a crazy crazy weekend. My theory is the weather. As my hubby stated today at church about why there was such low attendance, there are negative ions in the air! Anyway... saturday was nice because we had nowhere to be, however, if you read my friday post, i was still exhausted from the babyfood fiasco!! Or, rather the week had just caught up with me. Either way, I was beat. I did escape for a couple hours to run some errands. I came home, cooked dinner and pretty much just vegged on the couch when not caring for our little monkey.

Today was Sunday, always a busy day anyway. We went down to my mom's after church to celebrate my Aunt Susan's birthday. Well, nothing is ever dull in our world, my Aunt Doris decided she needed to pass out and give us a little scare... warranting a visit from the Linwood PD and the EMT's. Turns out as of right now, she is fine... although it was scary for all of us present.

So, all in all, we survived the weekend, and the best news of all.. the little peanette was born! Our friends who gave us the idea about starting this blog because they started one for their soon-to-be-born daughter, well, she finally entered the world at 12:05am this morning!! She is gorgeous and I can't wait to meet her!!

That's all for now... 6 month pictures at JCPenney's tomorrow... should be interesting!!

Love to all...

Homemade Babyfood... not like Gerber makes it

So... today was quite an interesting day. Jason slept in, and then hardly napped at all, but really wasn't cranky. We went out to lunch with Peanette's mommy who was due to have her today, but the little peanette decided she liked where she was and stayed put. I offered to go to Chevy's or Surf Taco, but it was Atlanta Bread we went. We are all very anxious to meet Jason's girlfriend!! :-D

My little man is growing up so quick.. we saw a hint of a tooth today, with much drool and chomping down on his hand. He was quite the ham at lunch today, flirting with anyone that would look his way!

When we got home, I put him down for a nap (where he basically talked to the animals in his crib and slept for about 1/2 hour) and decided it was time to make some baby food. FIrst I made some oh, so lovely, pureed green beans. Jason had his first taste of green beans tonight, and he seemed to enjoy them. I kind of hid them in the rice cereal and milk, but he did not seem to object at all! I guess I have to let him grow up and eat like big people now!

After all that I then decided to make some sweet potatos. I peeled them, boiled them, chopped them, and pureed them. I had a half of blender full of orange puree and I was ready to pour it into the ice cube trays to freeze them. I picked up the container off the base of the blender, and the bottom of the container unattached itself, and there was orange puree all over me, the counter and the blender. I was not amused. At all. The entire mess went into the sink, I apparently had some left over hormone issues and started crying, cleaned up everything and left the house for a while. I got some groceries at the store, and came home and cooked dinner. I then decided I deserved a glass of wine for the babyfood fiasco. So, I got the corkscrew thing out, and started opening the wine, and somehow I pinched my thumb in the wine opener. At that point I gave up on everything, put a band-aid on my thumb, and went in the den and sat down and let Scott take care of the rest.

So, here i sit, typing this blog, the kid is in bed, i have a glass of wine next to me and i'm slowly powering down! Hope everyone had a good day... I'm glad it's almost over!! :D

i've been sucked in...

So, Jason's future girlfriend's parents have a blog set up for her, I thought it was only appropiate that we do the same. I've never had a blog before, so I don't know if I'll keep up with this.. but it's fun for now! This will keep everyone up to date on the happenings of the love of our life, Jason Robert. So, enjoy...

Just to give everyone an up to the minute synopsis of our life to-date... Jason was born on July 25th, 2006 at 11:41 pm. He was wayy to comfy in my belly, so we all decided that he should enter the world via c-section after 13 hours of labor. We spent quite a few days in the hospital, not going home until Friday (he was born on Tuesday).

During the week, my grandfather was called home to the Lord, in fact on the same day we left the hospital. It was a bittersweet week for everyone, but he did get to see pictures of Jason before he died, telling everyone that came in his room about his new great-grandson. I did get to say good-bye to him in a dream, which was so special since I was unable to attend the funeral.

The remainder of 2006 was definetly a roller coaster. We lost my sister-in-law Judy in October, my grandmother at the end of October, Scott's nephew was married in September and in our church we had as many babies born as parishoner's died. It's awesome to see God at work, though.

We are praying that 2007 is slightly less eventful, however, we will hold our faith in God that He will take care of us no matter what. Jason is now 5 1/2 months old, and a cutie patootie! He is sitting up, trying to roll over, and wants to crawl, but has not figured it out yet! He eats cereal, and within the next week we're going to start on babyfood (which I'm going to try to make!). Life is good here, and we are a happy lil family!

Thanks for reading!
